“Helping Hands” Ministry

Weaving Compassion, Stitch by Stitch

At the heart of our church community, our “Helping Hands” Ministry thrives.  Every Tuesday, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., our dedicated volunteers gather within the hallowed walls of our beloved church.  Their hands, guided by love and purpose, create a tapestry of kindness that stretches far beyond the confines of our parish.

A Tapestry of Friendship

Beyond threads and fabric lies the true magic - the camaraderie among our talented women.  We laugh together, share stories, and lift one another when life’s stitches fray.  In this sacred space where needles meet compassion, we weave hope into existence - one stitch at a time.

Our doors are wide open; new members are always welcome to join this vibrant tapestry of love and service.  May these words resonate with warmth and inspire others to join us on this beautiful journey!

Here are some examples of our work.

🌟❤️🧵

Milk Bag Mats

These humble mats, woven from discarded milk bags, serve a dual purpose.  Not only do they provide comfort to those seeking respite from life’s harsh realities, but they also echo our commitment to sustainability.  While we no longer send them to Haiti due to exorbitant shipping costs, their impact remains profound.

Sanitary Pads for Women

In distant corners of our world, women face challenges that transcend borders and cultures.  Our ministry has tirelessly crafted reusable sanitary pads for these resilient souls.  With each stitch, we empower them to reclaim their dignity and navigate life’s monthly trials with grace.

Handmade Totes

Imagine a world where belongings are carried not in green garbage bags but in vibrant, hand-sewn totes.  Our ministry brings this vision to life.  These sturdy companions accompany those in need - whether they’re carrying essentials or dreams.

Aprons for Mealtimes

Our sewing needles dance across fabric as we create adult aprons - more than mere bibs - for mealtimes.  These aprons symbolize nourishment beyond food; they embody care and connection.

Dignity Robes for Warriors

Women undergoing breast cancer treatments find solace in our “dignity” robes.  Soft fabrics envelop them during vulnerable moments, reminding them that they are warriors - strong and beautiful.

Cheer-Up Gifts for Shut-Ins

Our little tokens of cheer - handcrafted with love - brighten the days of those confined by circumstance or age.  A simple gesture can ignite hope and dispel loneliness.

Toiletry Bags for Recovery Homes

Assembling toiletry bags is more than a practical task; it’s an act of compassion.  These bags carry essentials and whispers of encouragement for those rebuilding their lives.

Knitting and Crocheting for Causes

Our needles click rhythmically as we knit and crochet items that support Catholic Women’s League (CWL) initiatives.   Scarves, blankets, and mittens become threads connecting us to global causes.

Warm Toques for the Homeless

Winter winds bite mercilessly, but our knitted toques offer warmth and dignity to those without shelter.  Each stitch is a prayer for their well-being.

Aluminum Cans with Purpose

We collect aluminum cans not merely for recycling but as currency for a greater cause—a missionary group’s noble endeavors.

Quilting Hope

Our hands have pieced together a magnificent group quilt - a patchwork of stories, memories, and dreams.  Its sale raises funds that ripple outward like blessings.

Remembering Amy St John

In memory of Amy St John, the visionary founder of our ministry who left an indelible mark on our hearts, we continue her legacy by supporting NEO Kids - an organization close to her heart.

Soleful Service

We cut out shoe patterns for Soles of Hope - an initiative aiding those in Africa who suffer from parasites due to walking barefoot.

Closet Share Program Allies

Our ministry extends its arms to assist the Closet Share Program within our community - a beacon of hope for those seeking clothing essentials.
