Our Purpose

We are the Holy Redeemer Minnow Lake Food Bank, and we have a heart for the most vulnerable in our community.

We understand that hunger is a harsh reality for many people, and we are a caring group of volunteers who want to show compassion to our neighbours in need. We are one of 44 members of the Sudbury Food Bank, and work to support people who suffer from food insecurity in our Minnow Lake area.

How We Can Help You

New Clients or Returning Clients (those who have NOT accessed food over the last six months):

If you live in our area of service and need food support, you can register as a new client or returning client by visiting our food bank from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays. You will need to bring government issued identification for everyone in your household, as well as proof of income and rent costs.

Current Clients (those who have accessed food support during the last six months):

Clients are eligible to receive a food basket order every four weeks. To provide additional food, we need to receive all requests for food orders before 5:00 pm on Tuesday.

Online

You may submit a food basket order between Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. for pick up on the upcoming Thursday.

At 5:00 pm on Tuesday evenings, the form will be closed. Online clients will NOT be called by a volunteer to set a preferred time for pick up, as it is part of the online form.

Phone (Food Bank number has changed recently!)

For those clients who do not have an email address, the phone number for the food bank has been changed. Call Holy Redeemer Church at 705-566-8330 and press 1 for the Food Bank.

You must call BEFORE 5 pm on Tuesday for a food basket on Thursday. We encourage you to call on the weekend, as the line may be busy during office hours.

Please leave a message, speaking slowly and clearly stating

Your name (spell out your name) and,
Your phone number.

A volunteer will contact you to set a preferred time for pick up. If you do not receive a call, but have left a message before 5:00 pm on Tuesday, come for your order on Thursday between 3:00 and 5:00 pm.

If your call is made after 5 pm on Tuesday, your order will be saved for the following week.

Our food bank receives food donations from the Sudbury Food Bank as well as other financial support, and we are VERY grateful for that. But they can’t provide everything we require to support the hundreds of families who face food insecurity in Minnow Lake.
